My Mitzvah - Sam McNally

For my Mitzvah, I went to the Sarah Fox Children’s Convalescent Hospital. It is a 60-bed facility based in Athlone, Cape Town. It is a step-down facility from the Red Cross Children’s Hospital and helps to care for children with a number of diseases or those whose domestic situation has become untenable. When I visited the first time I cleared out a storeroom so they could have it roofed, and played with the kids. The second time I went there I swept corridors, swept the kitchen and yard, emptied out bins and once again played with the kids. I plan to use some of my bar mitzvah money to buy some entertainment equipment, such as a Wii or Xbox, for the children of the hospital to play with.
